Hackathons

TECHNOLOGY AS AN ENABLER TO TACKLE THE UN SUSTAINABILITY GOALS

LGirlCodeHack is an annual event hosted on the first weekend of August, in commemoration of Women’s month, it is an event where computer programmers and others involved in software development, including graphic designers, interface designers and project managers collaborate intensively on software projects with a specific goal.

At most hackathons, the main incentives are small cash prizes and bragging rights. But we believe that women would be more drawn to a more altruistic goal: projects that will make a difference to society as a whole. And thus our hackathon is not run as a competition but rather a collaborative learning experience where everyone will walk away with new knowledge to help them continue their journey in exploring the ICT space. The event is open format, which means that participants can hack on web, mobile, desktop, or hardware

The hackathon will happen simultaneously in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban..
