“I joined the hackathon this year as a means to learn, see how well I can work under pressure, and to bond with my friends over code.
It was amazing how much I learnt in just one weekend – and I was amazed at the great ideas the ladies came up with. But the best thing I noticed amongst the girls was the unity. It was so much fun, it didn’t feel one bit
like a competition because we assisted one another. It helped me understand that as ladies, we possess so much talent, we just have to go out there and shine.
The reason I love technology is that it is forever changing. It’s such a diverse field which will always be interesting. I feel that it’s a field there is always something to learn. I want a career that accommodates both my love for numbers and programming, so Computational and Applied Mathematics seems to sum it up perfectly.
My career aspiration is to be a quantitative analyst. Even though it’s a career in finance, there is a lot of programming required which many people don’t realise. So, the experience of the hackathon helped me gauge my
skills, to see where I can improve.
As one of the winners of the spot prizes over the weekend, the Udemy voucher I won is helping me perfect my skills. What is more, I made new friends and the food was great!
My experience was absolutely amazing. Thank you for organizing it.”
