Call for Nominations – New Board Members 2020
GirlCode is a registered non-profit organisation (NPO 158-642 ) and a registered public benefit organisation (PBO#930051725) with Section 18A tax-exempt status. GirlCode is an innovative organisation pioneering diversity and inclusion in the South African tech space. Our aim is to empower young girls and women through technology.
Nominations are sought from professionals with the following experience:
- Fundraising and donor development;
- Finance and accounting;
- Law;
- BBBEE partnerships;
- Operations management;
- Marketing;
Successful candidates will:
- Share GirlCode’s passion to ignite the innate curiosity and potential inside every girl child by encouraging them not only to play with technology but create it;
- Be in good standing in their professional fields and/or in networks, and have demonstrated leadership in their fields of engagement;
- Have strong networks related to the technology industry;
- Be willing to dedicate a substantial amount of time to the governance of and fundraising for GirlCode on a voluntary basis; and
- Help expand GirlCode’s reach by engaging directly with stakeholders, policy makers and funding networks.
In making final decisions about the candidates, the board seeks to ensure that the board, taken as a whole: Has a good mix of financial, legal, strategic, and fundraising competencies; Includes leaders from different sectors in the public, private, and social sectors; and positions GirlCode as a dynamic, innovative, leading non-profit in South Africa.
- Board members are elected for two-year terms.
- Five individuals will be elected in 2020 to serve from 1/5/2020 through 31/12/2022.
- GirlCode’s board of directors is a working board. Every board member will be expected to contribute towards the success of GirlCode.
