GirlCoder Profile: Matshidiso Tladi
I a women who joined tech in development space for just over 8 years, with extensive experience in both sides of a coin, I therefore refer myself as s full stack developer, working for different industries and using different frameworks both open source and microsoft, I have my name on the some of the coolest technologies ever designed, and that makes all my sacrifices all worth it, to me Programming is not a career is the passion and what more can one ask for, when passion and career meets the universe stops for a second, lol.
7 years ago I joined this industry fresh from varsity,it has been a challenging journey, as a women You need to constantly proof Yourself that You are as good as the male counter part if not even better, and similarly a lot of women in this area has a pull her down syndrome, not much support from fellow women in tech, I belive in achieving better together,if one hand helped me why not use mine to help a fellow women in the tech industry.
Coffee, emails, check tasks on jira, write down what I need to achieve by end of the day and dive straight into it, during the day I read up on blogs, new features, then also learn something new.
Yes I have, and mostly due to always having to prove Yourself, that has left me wanting to achieve more, learning more, developing myself in areas I belive could add value and constantly proving the society that we can do better as women, not only doing this for myself but to other women as well as we try paving a better journey for the future in the industry.
That is never okay to disagree to agree, its okay not to be liked by everyone and its okay not to deliver sub standard work just because pressure or poorly designed systems expects You too, its okay to strive for perfection.
Its a tough industry, its still as man dominated ever, requires lots of hard work yet it is very possible to be the best, the greatest in systems not designed for You to thrive, if You dream it, make it possible, most importantly while at it help another women’s cross, be it however but let’s empower each other, true leadership starts not with being great but with shining Your light to others so as greatness touches them, and its transferred through them.
Each day learn something new
A strong generation of women in tech, I would love to make it a norm for women to strive in tech, to lead us into the 4th industrial revolutionary.
